Governors

Welcome to our Governors’ section

Please find below details of how our Governing body is structured, including the names, categories and responsibilities for each Governor.

St Francis RC Primary School is part of the Emmaus Catholic Academy Trust. We have a local Governing Body which alongside the trust is responsible for overseeing many of the strategic decisions of the school. A key role is to act as a ‘critical friend’: to support, to challenge, to ask questions, ultimately to represent the school community.

The Governing Body works in close partnership with the Headteacher and staff. Whilst the Headteacher is, of course, responsible for the day to day running of the school, the governors and trust are involved with such things as staffing, curriculum, school buildings and finance. It ensures the school functions well and maintains the proper range of academic and social objectives.

Who are we?

The Governing Body consists of:

  • Pat Jones - Foundation Governor/Acting Co-Chair
  • Christine Maymon - Foundation Governor/Acting Co-Chair
  • Anne O'Dwyer - Headteacher
  • Leah Deighan - Staff Governor
  • Fr Kevin Murphy - Ex Officio
  • Mary Garvey - Foundation Governor
  • Dean Maryan - Parent Governor
  • Himo Sonny-Joe - Parent Governor

The standard term of office for a governor is four years. The chair and vice-chair are elected annually at the first meeting of the academic year.

All governors are on each committee.

The Co-Chairs of governors are Ms Pat Jones and Mrs Christine Maymon, who can be contacted via the school office or directly via email at admin@st-francis.manchester.sch.uk. They both serve as governors at other schools.
